When it transpired that a schoolboy engaged in a spot of graffiti declaring ‘Ding Minhao was here,’ it sparked a public uproar that quickly made it into the media and bounced around the world. It’s a familiar hallmark of many teenagers commonly etched on classroom desks and walls in abandoned areas but this particular piece of graffiti was different – it was scratched into 3,000 year old relic in Luxor, Egypt and was yet another example of Chinese tourists behaving badly abroad.
